Spark Plug torque spec
its that time again to change my plugs. was wondering what the torque specs were for our cars. cant find information technology anywhere online or on here.

When I was researching I found it to be 22ft lbs. That's what I torqued mine to fifty-fifty though information technology felt pretty tight for a spark plug, nevertheless there are crush washers on them so that needs to be taken into consideration. I'd say you're right on, 28nm = ~20.5 ft lbs.

On all of My VWs and Audis I have always done 22ft Lbs. The plugs always come out without destroying threads but don't loosen on their own causing a compression leak

28nm + 90 degrees
That is the torque spec for the Bosch plugs. DO NOT tighten the NGK plugs to that spec. They are more like the 22 lb/ft mentioned above.

oasis't done mine nonetheless and was planning on doing it this jump...do the factory plugs need a special tool similar the BMW's twenty or so bespeak spark plug?

Another reminder, it'due south best to change the plugs when the engine is absurd. The aluminum head expands much more than the steel spark plugs. Torquing down a set of plugs in a hot and expanded head will crusade the head to contract on the plugs one time information technology cools. This could lock them into place or snap when trying to remove subsequently on. Lastly, 22 ft*lbs like everyone said.

does a regular spark plug removal socket work? My older BMW needed a special tool from BMW to go the OEM ones out.
